Student Research Assistant

The research group of Prof. Joller is looking for a Student Research Assistant (approx. 6 h per week) to strengthen our research team. We are an established research group at the University of Zurich and part of the recently founded Department of Quantitative Biomedicine of University of Zurich.

Our research is focusing on immune regulation in different disease contexts to understand how immune cells, especially Tregs, contribute to diseases susceptibility, onset, and progression. To address this, we maintain several mouse lines that must be genetically tested regularly. The Student Research Assistant will support us in this routine work for this testing.

Your responsibilities

  • Isolating DNA from mouse ear biopsies
  • Performing mouse strain-specific PCR
  • Agarose gel electrophoresis
  • Data analysis

Your profile

  • Student in biochemistry, biology, or relevant biological or biomedical science
  • Training as lab technician in biology, biomedical or pharmaceutical sciences is a plus
  • Hands-on experience in molecular biology techniques (e.g. DNA/RNA handling, PCR, etc.) is a plus

  • Good verbal and written communication skills in English and /or German
